Nkomba Sanctuary: Nature's Resilient Heartbeat

From Rubble to Roots: Our Journey

A Vision Realized

Nkomba Sanctuary wasn't always the verdant haven you see today. For years, this land served as the Pennington dump. But a dedicated group of community members saw potential beneath the refuse. They envisioned a space where nature could reclaim its ground, where biodiversity could flourish, and where people could connect with the environment.

Through countless hours of planning, tireless clean-up efforts, and a passionate commitment to conservation, that vision was brought to life. The land was meticulously cleared, rehabilitated, and rezoned for conservation, marking a monumental shift from a site of waste to a symbol of hope and renewal.

Discover Nkomba's Wonders

The Record Sea Bean

Nkomba is uniquely home to South Africa's lowest recorded sea bean (Entada rheedii). These remarkable "voyager seeds" drift across oceans, and finding one here speaks to our special coastal connection.
